WORKING VACATION August 3, 2007

Last week I had a working vacation in the Colorado Rockies. Cool, literally. After the normal Florida daytime 90’s and a rainy season that thank God goes on,(still 16” below normal rainfall) we were ready for a break. The sun at 10k feet is still intense, but day time temps were only in the high 70’s. Night time were in the 50’s. When eating dinner outside, being near a patio heater was a desirable location. We were up in Breckenridge working with our main client, but had time to appreciate the vistas. Our main client’s, main client is in the real estate business in Summit County. We spent an afternoon riding around with the broker looking at the rental home market. The market up there seems really strong. My wife grew up on a farm and has always had this thing about land. Had to get her back to the boat quick and retrained in the wonders of the boating life. She is looking to put us on a starvation diet to help save some investment funds. If your interested in the market up there, see the link to Breckenridge Real Estate. It is nice to be back in my own bed (berth) and get oxygen with every breath.

ENGINE ROOM SIZE August 1, 2007

For a boat this size, the engine room is rather small. The original owner, during the planning stages of the boat, requested the main bulkhead in the galley area be moved aft 18” to expand the galley/saloon area. That space came out of the engine room. I can stand up (5’-8”), turn around, all in one spot. Adding a shelf for the water heater which is about 18” above the batteries takes a lot of maneuvering room out of the space. The A/C compressor sits where the chiller originally was and the Lectra/san sits in place of the original one. The A/C water pumps and the electric head intake pump are lined up along the edge of the house battery box. That took out about 6” of standing room. Still beats any engine room I had on previous boats.
