Well it is that time of year to through out the old and bring in the new. I am not sad to see this year go. With the market the way it is and the economy the way it is, we can all hope for better in 09. Things accomplished toward getting ready to cruise. We have the SSB installed and operating. I have started to study for my HAM license. We got the yard work done for another three years. I have started to do serious investigating into the type equipment and their prices to complete preparing the boat for cruising. All I can say is the market has to go up or serious choices will have to be made.

This new years eve we and a few friends and their boats have reservations at a local marina to go to the first Pensacola downtown party. Dropping of a 10 foot wide metal pelican at mid night, fire works and all that stuff. It is also suppose to be only 32 degrees that night. Could be an early night retreating to the boats and having drinks with friends in the warm confines of the saloon. It will be good to get the boat out and moving again. It has been 6 weeks since she has moved. This was mainly do to extreme tides and other obligations. I am ready for the new year.

I was reminded that the grill is actually a gift from my son and daughter-in-law. My beloved thought I was leading people to think I bought it. My idea and physically we went to get it, but got reimbursed.

And for all of you who have stumbled across my humble blog, have a very Merry Christmas and a blessed New year.

It is the season to enjoy friends and good food. We seem to do that more during the holidays and share the decorations of the boat. This past weekend we had a neighbor and our catamaran sailing friends for dinner. Good food, good conversation and good Christmas spirit.

It is also time to give gifts to the ones we love. This ridicules size pile is for my wife and I. Most is parts for one item. We have an 11-year-old grill that the insides have cooked away and are no longer replaceable. It was also round which makes it difficult to cook for a group over 2. This is not for me as I do not grill.

I should explain. I am blessed with a wife that is a fantastic cook. When I did the grilling, it never met her expectations. I finally gave it up. She has wanted a new grill for 5 years and this is the year. Two of the other items make up the rail clamp and cover. There is also a replacement heating element for the water heater. She has no clue what that package has in it.

There are some practical things there for me also. I get 2 sweaters. I only own 1 sweater and it is a little out of style and showing its age. Plus what a year for sales. I am also getting the study manual for my ham operators license. And yes I did get her a little something.

This is what happens when you say no presents for each other this year. That is always a death trap. Having a bean counter for a wife has its pluses and minuses. I am really leaning on getting her 1 other small gift. I am risking my demise, but tis the season. If this blog suddenly stops after Christmas, you will know it was to much.

They came and with in a half hour, they were finished. They ended up putting a new end on the spreader. They had tried to weld the crack in the old one, but the welder was concerned about its strength. I know have an emergency spare. The yard work is now officially finished.
