It came and went and I worked all weekend. That was not bad. Saturday we had an almost tropical storm. Sunday was better, and Monday was good. Being in a store that is going out of business, one does not really have a lot of time to lament ones month of no sailing. This will end Saturday. We close the doors forever. That leaves me back to retirement. Anybody need a part time worker. We do not cruise for 3.5 years and I can not sit on my butt that long.

I am going sailing Sunday, Monday and Tuesday (my birthday). Wahoo!! I was going to go Wednesday, but the weather turned bad about noon. I can not believe it, the wife has taken off for a couple days, and we are planning to head west towards the Wharf. I am planning to just play it by the wind.

Pictures from Breckenridge. Kids birthday was fun, probably more for us then her. Happens when you are 1 Y. O. Also raced cars this past weekend. Made some suspension and wheel changes and now are back to fine tuning to get speed better. Just like yacht racing, all it takes is more money and there is always someone who is willing to spend more.

Labor day is this weekend and it looks like my boss took the liberty to have me work. That’s what happens when you not around to express your self. My wife reminds me I have been gone 2 weeks playing, and it is time to work before there is nothing left to sell at Boater’s World. We are getting close.

Well the snow is melting and the temp is in the low 50’s and windy. Went by Lake Dillon yesterday and did not see any sailboats, of course it was Wednesday. I did see a lot of ice, that may also slow down sailing. As you can see by the pictures, the snow is still here at 9600 feet and up on the mountains at 12000+. It is actually pretty nice out, and very dry. I can feel my face turning into a raisin.

There are pictures with these posts, but I forgot my passwords at home, and will post them next week.

It is also race weekend coming up and I will have to catch up next week with my posts.

IT IS DONE FOR SPRING, AT LEAST May 8, 2009

Well, the wood was finished. I say was because when we were out for the weekend and where rolling up the genny, the flapping sheet caused the turning block to hit some of my cap rail and mar about 4 inches of finish. That was caused by one of the new blocks I bought last fall. I have now sanded it smooth and have put 2 of the 3 coats of varnish on it. I have also done the other side and made two pieces of brass about 8 inches long to cover the wood in the area that the block can hit. Now I will probably smash the blocks. Time will tell.

I may either be better or worse about keeping up with this blog in the next couple weeks. Depends on the boredom I am faced with. We are going out west for my granddaughters first birthday. She still usually takes lengthy afternoon naps, which will give me time to continue writing. It was snowing there this morning. I need to figure out a way she celebrates her birthday here. I believe May is the best month in the spring. Daytime highs are in the 70’s and nights in the 60’s. It don’t get no better than that. Snow!?!

The first one this year. Its always something, weather, work or something else that has keep us from staying out overnight. The sail on Saturday was excellent. We made a couple runs up and down Pensacola Bay. The wind picked up in the early afternoon and we shortened sail and still were running 6+ knots.

We were thinking of anchoring at Ft Mcrae, but when we looked in it was like July 4th. I could not believe the number of boats there in April. I guess the fuel costs being down this year has brought everyone back out. The fishing is also excellent and that brings out the campers who spend their day fishing and the larger sports fishing boats because it is as close to the entrance to the Gulf as you can get.

We ended up at Red Fish Pt. That is OK because it is quiet and that’s suits us fine. We had our cocktails and the wife picked up some small steaks which were excellent. The wind blew a steady 15 all night as predicted. I was happy I had set extra scope on the anchor. It was a good night to sleep. The temperature was around 60 degrees. Good snuggling weather.

The wind blew ESE Sunday so we motor sailed back to keep from tacking ourselves to death.
