As I write this, we are sitting on the bottom. The wind is building out of the north again, but the temp is well into the 40’s. Probably not bad for southern Indiana. This just happens to be Florida. Needless to say, like most of the rest of the country, I have not been sailing lately. But the days are getting longer.

Plus, it is time for Winter Fest at Sebring. The beginning of our race season. We are primed and ready to go. Only changes to the car this year are towards better reliability. Get tired of fixing it during race weekends. This is 3 days of racing including an enduro. That is always a good test of car, driver and crew.

One of the things that makes this a fun weekend is that several of the pro teams that will race at the Daytona 24 in a couple weeks use this to tune up and get in the competitive spirit after the winter break. Yes they beat us badly, but it is good to see how far you could still go if money was no object.

I am also interested in seeing if they made any changes in who is in what class. Our class had gotten pretty distorted and was no longer competitive. Hopefully someone has reviewed all the numbers from last year. I feel we were not the only class to have this fate. The race operators make a judgment on what you have in your can and assume you have done everything possible for that class. Just like the pros. Sponsorship is the answer, but then you’re a pro. Oh well, sometimes that number 1 car breaks and we don’t. Winning is everything. All we can do is be consistent and persistent.
