Last week we started getting Tar balls on Pensacola Beach. By this weekend the sheen was in the bay and some tar balls. By Monday the tar balls had moved east with the tide to the beach bridge that connects Gulf Breeze to Pensacola Beach. That is 8 miles from the Pensacola Pass. Somebody is not doing enough. I am in a canal 3 miles east of the bridge. I guess that means there are tar balls outside our canal. We have one boom, but as of a few minutes ago, no one has closed it off. Was it not good old Vince who said a good defense is a good offence. I guess the powers that be will wait till the oil is lapping up on the far seawall of the canal before closing it off. This mess I have to lay at the feet of our elected officials. BP made a mistake. I think they wanted the oil to sell not pollute the gulf.

This has been a real fiasco from the White House to the canal chairman. I guess we are so politically correct to not cause any bad feelings that we can no longer show any leadership. The Pres comes to town to view the damage, goes to one of our military bases and gives a speech that has almost no time spent on the problems here and gives most of his speech promoting his wife’s “take care the military family” agenda. You will not find someone much more patriotic and pro military then me, and I feel for the families. But there is a time for everything, and he has no clue.

If you have not guessed, I am upset and depressed, and this has not as of now effected me personally other then we seem to be at the pier till further notice. I feel for those in the tourist and fishing industry. They have been or will in the near future be devastated. God help us.
