Alright maybe not as perfect as with my crew person, but pretty close. If you recall, last winter 3 of us used to get together and sail on each other’s boats. Well, when 2 of them did a cruise around big bend, our sailing died.

My dock lord is back from his 2 year cruise, and has his boat in the yard getting refurbished. With the oil spell, Boat US will pay for half your haul out fees. When he made the decision to haul his boat, things were a t there bleakest. He also put a claim into BP. Well BP paid for the haul out and he did not put a claim into Boat US. Cool. That leaves him boatless. Not a good thing. A

Therefore, the 4 of us have gotten together to get sailing once a week or so. We are all about the same age and retired and sailing is our life. Much to our spouses chagrin. Therefore we went out Wednesday and had a great sail. Coming home was a tight reach and we had to motorsail around Navy Pier. Between the wind, tide and current, we could make about 20 feet per tack across a fetch of about 1-1/2 mile. We could have outlasted the tide and continued to sail, but maybe we could have made it in some time this weekend. It would not have bothered us, but the beloved spouses may have been a little overwrought.

The wind was up and down from 10 to 18 kts. The direction stayed about the same, from the SW. Life was good, the company was great.

Tomorrow I start a new job. Time will tell.
