We were at Road Atlanta this weekend. The weather was beautiful both days with high 40’s to start and warming into the 70’s. That is good for being in the foothills of the Georgia mountains. Saturday started with a practice session followed by qualifying and a sprint race. There were several drivers there that were at Winterfest that we do not get to race with that often because they are from the north, Tennessee to Illinois. They are not well classified because the operators of our race are not that familiar with the cars or the drivers. We ended up with 4 cars in our class, with one being a couple seconds per lap faster. The other 2 were good competition. Second place seems to be our destiny.

Sunday started good, car started with out a problem and we went to the grid. That was the end of the good. Lesson one in driver’s ed. Do not punch cold tires, do not slam on cold brakes. Never got to the braking part. As number one son was pulling out of the pits he punched it and spun head on into the concrete wall, continued around and hit his right rear, hard. He is fine, physically. Hurting mentally and soon in the billfold. Cars can be fixed.

Time to go sailing.
