ITS HOT August 1, 2011

Posted by sailingnightwatch in Durbeck, FL, Florida, ICW, Pensacola, Racing, Repairs, Restoration, Sailing, Sailing the ICW.

Saturday started with a little wind out of the north. Maybe 5 knots. I scrubbed the boat and then we motored to a local marina and toped off the fuel. It is Hurricane season.

Still no wind so we motored back and got in about the time the sea breeze started up. It was a good time to scrub the awning. There is a pear tree not far from the boat and it is time for the birds to eat the pears. Hundreds of birds, hundreds of pears. Need I say more. The temp was in the upper 90’s and after the scrubbing, it was pool time. By cocktail time, the wind was up to about 12-15 kts. Nice.

Sunday was a carbon copy of Saturday. My main air conditioner has been giving me some problems. I have replaced the thermester and circuit board and still do not have good control over the unit. It runs on factory default settings period. That means the 2 air handlers run all the time. I do not need to wear them out. Hopefully the AC man will get here this afternoon to try something else. He is talking about replacing the cable between the controller and the unit. Its only money.

At least on Sunday we got to watch an exciding Formula 1 race. Speaking of racing, a quick update. If you recall we crashed out at Road Atlanta. That entailed some body straightening, new front bumper assembly and tail and wing work. Number one son did all the fiberglass work and he is getting good at that. He did a 1 day session at Sebring to check it out. I did not drive down for one day session. He then went to Virginia International Raceway. I did not go because of work. We will do Daytona in October.
