T.S. LEE. No that is not the name of a ship, but it did crash into a nicely planned 3 day weekend. This was to be a rain maker. They got that right. Fri to Sat 4 inches, Sat to Sun 6 inches and so far today, 4 inches. I think that will be all. The radar shows no more bands of rain coming. Wahoo.

So what do you do. Well, I got a cold and was feeling poorly all weekend. Saturday was our 45th anniversary, which I basically forgot. We were going to go out to dinner, but with the weather and my cold, we did a rain check till during the week. That will be something to look forward to.

So what do you do for a tropical storm. Relearn how to prepare the boat. This not being a big one, we did not anchor out in the canal. Neither did we take down sails. Probably should have. Did not take the bimini down, in fact we put up the windshield to keep the rain off while we get in and out the boat. That was close to a mistake. So far, all has turned out all right. I also had to relearn what lines to tie were. Sunday night, there is a line banging on the main mast and shacking the whole boat. It is the topping lift. I was out there at midnight until 1 am, trying to get the line tight enough to stop the shacking. Again at 5 in the morning I am back out there trying again to stop the noise and shacking. I was about to give up when the wind dropped off to about 15 knots and I took the opportunity to untie the main and got the topping lift line free to secure it differently. The lack of wind was key because it allowed me to re-secure the main, which I could not have done in 45+ knots of wind. No more shake. At least for a while.

Back to bed. The next band and more shacking. No where near as bad, but there. The exact same problem with the mizzen. Waited for the wind to slack and took care that a shacking. Shacking gone, life is good, all things considered.

I, like everyone else around here, I want another shot at a 3 day weekend.
