TIME TO SPEND SOME MONEY February 18, 2013

Life raft time. Had to take advantage of the boat show sales and bite the bullet and part with the cash. That is one of the big gees we had left. Had been looking at a “go around the world” type, but they give you more food and not much more. One has to go commercial to get it all. Well, that costs more money then I have and I will be traveling between islands I can see most of the time. Therefore a costal life raft was chosen. Still a lot of money.

Now we have to decide where to put it. Then drilling holes in my deck, fill with fiber glass, re-drill and mount with backing plates. That is a good day or two project. Have to let the glass set up.

It is also time to think about wood preservation. Hate that, but it is time.

Also spent the weekend putting in a new fuel line, fuel pump and valve to shift between tanks. When I got the boat, both fuel tank contents were semi-solid. I had them cleaned out and the aft tank caped off. My forward tank holds about 65 gallons and I figured that was enough for the local cruising we do. The aft tank holds about the same, so we will use it while cruising. So the weekend was spent bending my body into positions it was never meant to be. Like a crash course in Yoga. I also pulled all the wires and only need to buy a switch and finish the wiring.
