No not politics. I am even getting the Mate to watch something other than Fox News at night. It is a struggle, but she is slowly breaking away. Me, I have gotten old enough to be like my parents; “the country is going to hell in a hand basket, God help us.”

Now the real subject. I have a friend who completed the loop around the Gulf in June. We have met with him twice, picking his brain. We have met friends who are in the islands off Panama. They are home for business and we had them over for dinner. With the mate, the water maker, which I though was a dead deal is like a zombie and keeps coming back. Well, we had them over for dinner and picked their brains about not only the water maker, but about daily living at anchor. How often they run the generator, use the AC, run the water maker, water usage, shopping, cooking, diets, Ipad, size of Ipad, aps, bugs, spare parts, pactor, wind generator, solar panels and many other subjects. They were extremely helpful. One amp per gallon or water. I had figured a little above that due to inefficiencies of generating the electricity and converting it to water. Fuel is expensive, wind generators are expensive and solar panels are ridicules.

It is interesting, the people last night, money is no problem. Our other friend did it on next to no money. In fact, he admits it takes more then he used to be comfortable. In comparison, we will be at the lower end, but not to an extreme.

So much to learn, so little time. Did I mention it rained this weekend, in fact all week.
